Having problems dialing in a good sound

I just recently bought the axe fx standard and I am having a problem getting a good sound. I know they're in there and I am not that unexperienced with equalization. The highs are too shrill like and piercing and there is that digitalis sound coming through on clean and heavy rock patches. I have a peavey 50/50 power amp with the presence turned all the way down. I am running a bogner 212 cab and a mesa recto 212 cab. Any advice?
 
Going to need more data than that, hence the lack of response. More details regarding your patch(es), what tone you are after. A clip always helps a bearing can be established as to what you consider "shrill" and "digitalis". Nothing to go on here.

However, before you go any further, this thread should be followed through to ensure you have everything hooked up correctly first.

Why is it that when I click on a link in this forum it never takes to the actual thread? Always to the home page instead.
