Has anyone tried the FX8 with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe combo?

I was thinking it might be a nice little setup. I dislike the hot rods overdrive sound and figured it might be a great
platform for pedals and just using the clean channel. I figure the FX8 has enough drives to get a variety of OD and distortion tones. And the effects loop is pretty quiet on these amps.

Anyone have any experience with these 2 together?
 
I have had two gigs where a HRD was the backline. I didn't do 4CM but in both cases it was a fine platform for my drives and effects.
