It's a cool feature that was part of the Digitech Harmonyman. When you pushed one of the two switches on the pedal and strummed the key chord of your current song the pedal made a perfect two tone harmony to the notes you played during a solo or melody piece when you activated the harmonizer during the song. That way you don't have to program scales but just have the harmony effect in your chain and activate it when you want it.
