Going international with my Axe

I'm going to Japan and Australia in February for some shows.

I know the Axe can automatically adjust to local power. But what's the story with supplying midi phantom power to my (U.S. rated) Ground Control Pro?

Can I use the standard wall wart plugged into a step down transformer. Then into the back of the Axe? Or is it necessary for me to forgo the phantom power and plug the wall wart directly into the GCP?

Stepdown will work fine. Where are you playing in Australia?

Just curious, are you taking your axe fx as hand luggage?
Im curious if it's safe enough to let those bastards throw around my rack with axe fx and matrix.
In europe many companies have a limit of 10kg for hand luggage and actually check weight. And im just above 10kg.
