Depends on your interpretation I guess. So, it's possible this drifts in your 'I don't want metal' category. More progressive metal, but not real heavy and no cookie monster vocals whatsoever. Ray Alder. Singer for Fates Warning. Has 2 solo albums. Both phenomenal. And the production on them is fantastic.

I know you said no metal but check out Eleine Acoustic in hell. For an acoustic metal it is very well done. Nothing like their electric albums.
