Germanium boost pedal?

I have an analog Benson Fuzz that I like. I run the gain at 0, where, according to the manual, it operates more like a clean germanium boost. It fattens/thickens the tone, softens it, and somehow makes it pop a little more at the same time.

I want to replicate this in the AxeFx and go all digital. I’ve focused my efforts on the fuzz face thus far, thinking it to be the closest fuzz pedal, but it isn’t quite working out. Maybe I should be looking at a booster instead of a fuzz? What drive models should I be trying?

Try taking a Boost type and change the clipping type to be Germanium...

Yes, I am nowadays. For a while, I was plugging in the back and couldn’t get the fuzz to sound good, which is why I bought the Benson. Now the problem is I like the Benson more than the fuzz face using the front input lol.

Axe cant 100% load down the pickups like a real fuzz can. Thats probably what you’re experiencing.

Run a real fuzz (any fuzz?) to get the loading happening, then try the axe fuzzes again.

Thats my most “wall of sound” doom tool paired with fas bass. In fact i commissioned an sdd pre pedal build because of it.
