G3 and vintage pre amp

Am I defeating the g3d amp by choosing vintage on the pre amp setting, since I believe that was firmware 17.xx...

It was taken away for just the short option, people complained, so Cliff added it back again

Actually it affects the preamp, dont know about power amp.

The "Vintage" Preamp Tube Type in 18.12 is identical the to algorithm used in 17.04. Use that and set Crunch to zero and your preamp emulation will be identical to 17.04.

G3 is the underlying foundation in the modeling. Whatever you do, you can't change the code.

Nope, he's talking JUST about the Vintage preamp tube type, not the whole G3.
If you want to have the Vintage preamp tube type the way it was on FW 17 set the Crunch parameter to zero.

There is no way to defeat G3.
