FX8 issue - FX8-Edit - "The version information could not be queried."

Anybody getting this error or know how to fix it?

I just got the FX8 yesterday, trying to edit patches for the first time
with it using FX8-Edit and keep getting this error and the software
eventually loses connection with the FX8. I can then go into the settings
in FX8-Edit and reconnect but the same thing happens again.

The same Mac runs Fractal Bot and AxeEdit with no issues. Fractal Bot did my first backup with no issues before trying to run FX8-Edit.

I'm running FX8-Edit on a Macbook Pro running OS X El Capitan (version
10.11.1).
 
Actually, the error popup also says "Unknown Device" even though it connects briefly and after 10-20 seconds gives this error.
 
ok, seems like it's solved....during the first connection, the block definition load apparently failed and that needed to be done before anything else could be done using FX8-Edit. In order to initiate that, I had to reset the FX8. It then tried again to read the definitions and it completed this time and now I see the blocks display as you would expect.
