FRFR Question

I recently bought the AM4. I am considering buying the FRFR112 speaker from Headrush. They said I could just plug the mono out into the mono in on the speaker. My question to them was; if I buy 2 speakers, can I plug the mono out into one speaker's mono in, and plug the Out Right into the other speakers right "in". At that point would it be in stereo?? They couldn't answer my question. Can anybody here help me?? Is it worth buying 2 speakers, or should I stick with one? Right now I am playing thru 2 studio Alesis speakers, mono(L) going to one, and the "R" going to the other. Would it work the same way if I had two FRFR112 speakers from Headrush. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kinda stuff so your input much appreciated. Thx

You can run left and right outputs from the AM4 to the L/mono inputs of both speakers as they are receiving one side (mono) of a stereo signal.

If you can afford a Fender FR10 or 2 that would be much better sound wise and you could upgrade those in the future with WK Smiths pre-amp
for stellar sound.

Agreed. I have a Fender FR10 w/ the Archangel V3 preamp that I love. Also have a Headrush FR108 that has been designated to edrum duty after getting the fender.

I'll echo what others have posted here, you're better off with the Fender FR series than the headrush. Instead of chaining them together, run stereo with two of them.

Note: It's not absolutely necessary to run stereo, I run mono 90% of the time in most gigging situations and never find it lacking.

Agree 100% and that’s how I run the AM4. I am slowly copying presets for stereo at home in headphones though.

With my AxeFXIII I run mono to FOH on Out1 and stereo to IEM/FRFR on Out2. It makes the IEM mix so much better IMO.

I started out with the Headrush 112. From first hand experience I can say your speaker isn’t the right thing to save money on. I still use the HR for backing tracks and music but that’s it. I have an amp and Celestion F12 cab and a Fender FR10 for a light carry out of the house. Your AM4 gives you Axe level modeling. Give it a decent speaker. The Fenders are the best lower cost option and yes the FR10 is loud enough.

I have the HeadRush 112 and 2 108's.
I wouldn't buy the 112 again, too big & heavy. Not great tone.
With a bit of EQ the 108's are a great bang for the buck.

I recently started jamming with another band.
I'm the 3rd electric guitar, along with keys, bass, drums and 3 vocals.
In the practice room it is LOUD!
I'm using one 108, and it is surprisingly loud and keeps up fine!!

Also 2, 108's is a lot of fun in stereo!

I find getting to the controls and inputs on the headrush frs a pain in the ass. Mainly if positioned on its side. The fender fr is set up nicely and has the added benefit of additional tone controls and a XLR output. The tilt back legs are nice and it doesn't hurt that it looks like an amp.

I tried the Headrush and did not like it at all, sounded a bit harsh.

My QSC CP12 PA Speakers sound much better. Better option if you like monitor speaker types.

I was using a KATANA Artist series in Power Amp in mode, works just like a powered guitar speaker, so no IRs in play - cheap and ok sounding option.

Bought the Fender FR12 in the end and could not be happier, sounds and looks great.
Also, having Bass/Middle/Treble and HighCut options are very handy to adjust to the room setting.

Thx so much everyone. Fender it is. I’ll cross the WK Smith bridge once I get the Fender, as I’m sure I’ll have some questions on how to get that. All of your input is valuable. I’m new to the group, so thx for the welcomed responses

The new FR-12’s shouldn’t have the noise issue. The Archangel preamp is a good upgrade but from what I’ve read the FR speakers sound good as is. Good choice.

Alto makes the Headrush FRFRs and I have two of the Alto 10" versions that I run stereo when I need to, but mine are old but still going strong. If I were buying today I would go a different route but I run direct mainly and use IEMs which sound better than any FRFR.

I use a pair of line 6 ultra cabs (leftovers from the helix floor I sold) w/ the AM4 & FM3. They are clean, of course the Fractal stuff is stellar!

I bought a Tonex Cab and sold my 2 Headrush 108. Yes, they sound a bit harsh to me. Tonex Cab is better and have several interesting things.

I thought about getting a second Cab for the stereo thing, but now I'm using my Near Field monitors and I'm ok.
