Free IR: Marshall amp with a legendary mic placement - Betcha Dyna-cab can’t do this.

There is a legendary mic placement for a Marshall stack that has had a special buzz on the Internet but no guitar amp modeling developer or IR vendor has ever even tried to recreate. Even the recently-announced Dyna-Cab doesn't seem to cover that mic placement.

Just out of curiosity how it would sound like, today I spent an hour in a studio to carefully mic up this:


The resulting IR is available in either “UltraRes” resolution .syx or .fasbundle preset with “FullRes” IRs, as attached.

I've been using that technique for years. Everyone says they've never heard me make a single mistake since using this method.

That technique brings out the natural harmonics of the tubes and transformers.....one would think you guys would know this.........sheesh....

Well spotted - the original picture is in very low resolution so I couldn't figure out the side of the MD421

With the right loadbox, this is the best way to re-amp by far. Sits well in any mix. Next time get two mikes for stereo sound. Thank me later…….
