It would be nice if Fractal made a pedal the same width as the FM3/FM9 ie 9” the EV-1 is too long and the EV-2 is too short

Any other pedal will work.

Just make sure to calibrate the pedal before you use it (check the manual, it's easy).

The Moog EP-3 is basically the perfect size - almost same depth as the FM units. I love the Fractal pedals for their robustness and smooth operation. But I also like things to Tetris together nicely.

Not true.

The pedal needs to use a 10-100k pot wired with a specific polarity using a TRS connection.

There are different types of expression pedals and not all of them will work.
