FM9 Firmware Version 8.01

Unless you perform with factory presets, there's no need to resave them all. If you find it burdensome, don't do it. Most users either build presets from scratch, or copy a factory preset to a user location and tweak from there. I too missed the release note, and spent all of 5 minutes wondering what it was, but once you figure it out it's a very useful indicator.
Great point!
lol I’ve always gone through the whole fomo save re save factory presets every update, and realized it was becoming more of a protocol vs a necessity. I’ve built every preset every week I play from scratch

I like the factory presets for inspiration or attempting to find a special sound but honestly a YouTube search has been quicker than learning what’s in each scene of every factory preset.

I was using a volume block but then a couple months ago someone posted about using I think assigning it to a global setting, but I don't remember exactly so I will have to look when I am in front of the unit.
Fractal has a guide where you assign the input or output block level to one of the pedal jacks so you get a universal volume pedal across all of the presets.

As someone who uses a volume pedal for swells and cutting the signal consistently, assigning pedal jack 2 to the input level let me get rid of the volume block in each preset and not having to add a volume block to any factory presets I like.

I seriously used to hate tuning with the FM9. And I forgot what it was like to have a dedicated tuner. So I grew to hate tuning. It was ridiculous - flappin around up and down, changing its mind, I'm cranking pegs higher and lower and back again - it made a fool of me. And now... it's great. BIG improvement! I KNEW my guitars weren't that cheap!

Yeah, the new tuner is much nicer!

Thanks, FAS!

I finally updated to 8.01 from 7 and noticed my volume block is bypassed on startup. I always have my volume pedal toe down so there was always full signal to the PA after start up. Now, I have to rock the expression pedal to get it working as intended. Is this the new norm?

Yes. From the release notes:

Added activity sensing to internal pedals, FC pedals and external controllers. This stops Auto-Engage from activating an effect if the pedal/controller is not connected. This prevents, for example, a Wah being engaged if Auto-Engage is on but no pedal is connected (i.e., you left your expression pedal at home).

I did read the release notes. It says for pedals that are not connected. I have two pedals that are always connected. It's a built board that is only used for gigs...
It needs to see a little change on the voltage divider to know the pedal is there now.

I just updated to this version. Last one was done perhaps a year ago.
Also reloaded the factory presets.
Prior to this I had a really bad humming/ buzzing for at least a year and nothing I could do to get rid of it except turn the gain away down on the volume control on my guitar.
Oddly enough, this firmware update and preset reload solved the problem completely. No matter how much gain I dial into this thing, the buzzing is completely gone. I'm shocked.

I have the same issue on my AX FXIII here, so I'm going to go perform the latest firmware update and do the exact same thing by reloading all the presets. No clue why this solved my issue that I've been fighting for years (on my FXIII), but I'll take the win!

Just got around to updating both to the 8.01 firmware version as well as the factory preset updates today and I really don't remember having as much headroom as well as the overall dynamics just sounded much better along with my own presets without issue as well.
I also discovered the Texas Star models to be really good or at least better than I remembered. I should do this more often.

You should give the latest beta a spin ;)

I'm still on 8.01 as well. I like what I'm hearing & reading about 8.02. Are some of you are gigging v8.02b4 without issue? I'm super tempted to go for it, but I'm going to wait until after my next gig.
