Newbie to FM9, if I update my FM9 will my current switch layout (which took me awhile to figure out) still remain or will I have to work through that process again?

It should remain intact but always back them up before installing new firmware. Fractal Bot backs up system settings, presets, and cabs but your layouts, song/set lists, custom scales, etc you need to export outside of Fractal Bot. I'm sure on the wiki there is a guide to everything you need to grab. That way if you need to drop back you have everything fully restore.

Also read the top of the thread carefully... this update there was some issues with the foot switch layouts due to some changes in the blocks... it only affected if you were updating between betas but make sure you aren't in that situation. If you have a backup of everything you should be fine anyway but don't gloss over the first post.

The Export All Layouts... will grab the whole group, but it is advisable to also export each one individually by selecting the layout, and hitting Export Layout... as well, so an individual Layout can be restored, as the All Layouts one will overwrite all your Layouts, which may not be what you want in some cases....

Wait what?
A full FractalBot backup doesn't include layouts?
I've avoided catastrophe all these years by pure good luck?
I don't use setlists or custom scales at this point, but layouts, yes of course.
Oops.

Yes it does, just not separate from your system settings. The file FM9-<date>-<time>-system+gb+fc.syx contains all your global settings, system settings and your foot controller layouts.
Oh good, didn't think i would have missed that necessary step.
