FM9 artist patches question

Hi all just wondering if the Justin Derrico lead patches included for the presets for firmware 9 are meant to be super noisy or am I missing something?

The gate in the input block is open. Raise the threshold until it quiets down to your liking...

I don’t think they’re supposed to be super noisy, but sometimes it can depend on the settings or what gear you're running through. Maybe check the gain levels or try adjusting some of the effects to see if it smooths out a bit.

I found this preset to sounds so weird - the overdriven sound sounds way to metal, fuzzy. Different strokes for different folks!

I think it's the IR's they used. Cooper Carter shot IR's of Justins cabinets for his unit. We didnt get them. I used an Ownhammer Rockbox Greenback IR and its much more natural sounding.

Or don’t.

I don’t like a noise gate because I roll my volume down instead of relying on a noise gate because I want my signal to degrade/reduce naturally. Justin might do the same.

Either way is fine.

I don’t lock it down either. I was simply explaining to the op why the preset is noisy.
