FM3 edit with just midi cables??

Can you edit/connect with FM3 EDIT with just midi cables not using USB? i.e. computer - midi interface - connecting the midi in and out ( turning off the midi thru in the FM3 )

I thought I read something about this here but can't seem to find it, or if its possible

It would be extremely slow if it does work. I wouldn’t suggest it.

No, it doesn’t suggest that. FracPad uses streamlined I/O. It doesn’t do things like compression meters and level meters that eat up a lot of bandwidth.

I didn’t realize midi over USB or whatever it’s called ( I read it’s not actually midi usb, it’s something different ) was so much faster than midi

It works pretty well with FracPad because FracPad doesn't ask for data too often...
With FM3Edit it works but is slow

MIDI sends data at around 30,000 bits per second. USB 2 sends data at around 400 million bits per second.
