FM-9 edit says "disconnected" (even though it is connected..)

Hello, my FM-9 edit has been working perfectly with my desktop pc, but now that the pc has gone out of order, I downloaded FM-9 edit to my laptop (running Windows 11), but now FM-9 edit just says "disconnected!" no matter what I do. I've tried with many different USB cables (both long ones and short ones), turning both the FM9 and the laptop on and off, taking the USB cables in and out etc., but nothing happens..
Can anyone help - or give an explanation for this behaviour..?
