First impression of the HD 500

Hmmm..

I never rely liked my GT10 reverb much, especially after I got my Ultra. The GT10 verbs sound metallic and grainy to me. The GT10 compressor is ok, but pretty noisy. I did like the GT10 compressor better than the ones in my PodXT.

Everyone is all gaga about the HD amp models but ignoring the fx. I haven't seen anyone ever come out and challenge the Axe with the M13 fx. For me having a few good amp models and ho hum fx is not really enough to make me swap my GT10, much less my Axe.

Haven't tried the HD500 but as many of you been noticing by now, I own the Pod HD300. While it's pretty easy to setup and make a good preset it still has that Pod character that I've always had a problem with. In the videos I've really tried to do my best with the Pod but it's really hard. Something still wrong in there. There is a delay in the response time that I feel as well. And that really affects my playing.

But as a unit it's perfect for my on the fly gigs where I can fit the entire thing in my gigbag.
