Fender FR-12 preamp mod : The Hissterectomy

Interestingly enough, the Tonex Cab has a custom 12' Celestion coaxial speaker. Maybe they're trying to do something different this time.

P.S.: I didn't know that Fender owns IK! I would be surprised if the Tonex Cab has a V2/V3 "inspired" preamp... Please, tell me you've registered a patent for your design, Liam! (if such thing is possible)
The toneX pre is digital. They may have drawn inspiration from some of the FR problems that have been fixed or called out. But the toneX pre is not like the FR analog pres.

I'm super curious about this FR212. I wonder if it's as loud as a V3. What's the point of it if it's just mono anyways. We have mono at home.

It doesn't look like it is coaxial to me....

From the Website;
• Custom Celestion 12" speaker and 1" high-performance compression driver

Agreed. I searched the pages for "coax" and there's no hit. If it was coaxial they'd be crowing about it; The language on their pages is quite glowing about everything else they think it is.

Seeing as how this seems to be the premier FR12/10 thread, does anyone A. know what the stock 8ohm speaker is, and B. is it possible to get a better, 4ohm speaker to get the full wattage? Just a thought, and I've been Googling, but haven't turned up anything good.

The celestion TF1020 is a dead ringer for the stock FR10 driver. The 12 should be a similar driver. They are only available as 8ohm.

It's damn near impossible to find a similar full range pa speaker in 4ohms. The 4ohm compression drivers are out there but still not plentiful.

Bummer. Glad I asked though, thank you for such a quick response!

Proofs ordered for the next large production run. Revision B of the same V3 circuit.

Rev. B changes:
1) Increased missing 10-20kHz response in the FR by opening up some bandwitdth restriction of the op-amps.
2) Bright mod jumper is deleted (which is redundant with the extra octave of high frequency range).
3) All primary cables wired into a single (removable) socket for future product integration.
4) Upgraded Mosfet switch to a modern version with better performance.

Oh man... I'm 100% down for that.

Time to raise funds! C'mon Reverb, don't make me resort to
