Favorite Guitarist/Tones

Who are some of your favorite guitarist or tones and are you able to come close to any of their tones ?

My list:

John Mayer- Have a few patches that are close but still hard to get that clean and lead sound
Derek Trucks- Haven't been able to come close to his tone
Warren Haynes-
Brad Paisley- Trying to get that true Tele Twang w good sounding comp and drive
Jason Isbell- Trying to figure out how he does slide tones know he uses a dumble
Vince Gill- Hard to find smooth tones sometimes
Keith Urban- Have a few patches similar
 
I love Warren Haynes tone too! Glad you mentioned Vince Gill as well. I got a nice Haynes tone once with one of the Soldano models, I'm not sure which. Here are some holy grail tones for me..
Michael Landau - Strat into a Bassman? Such a beautiful tone.
Eddie Hazel - Fuzz - otherwise I'm stumped.
Jim Matheos - elusive Mark 4 - I've never come close. Probably my favorite Mesa tone.
Shawn Lane - Lots of reverb, sort of a dark Stratty tone. Nice clean sound too.
George Lynch - I love his lead tone, I've never come close.
Michael Akerfeldt - I love his clean Damnation tones wonderful for smooth leads
David Gilmour - lots of folks recomend compression for some reason?
Steve Hackett - I got close once with the Suhr Badger and a Muff.

Michael Schenker is one. I keep meaning to play around with that cocked-wah sound. Should be easy enough in the AX8 I'd imagine.
