It would certainly be an accessory I would buy for my FM9.
That is, a small lightning device that could plug into the Faslink port, curve up-and-over and provide a minimal level of downlighting on the control buttons. If an LED light source was used I would think the power draw would be less than what is needed for an FC-12. The downlight would also help maintain any night vision you have in a dark(er) environment.
As Ii you're this, not to different than what the lights on a Furman rack-mount do for the AF3.
Obviously wouldn't work if you use an FC board; can't make everyone happy.
