edit: quick question.. I'm still fairly new to the axefx2. I once heard you could load IRs directly into the axefx2, is that true?

Not sure I follow... if you are simply asking if the IRs are loaded into the AxeFx, then yes... that is true as AxeEdit is simply a go-between
