Facebook: Band page likes

I expect quite a few of us here are promoting something on Facebook. Maybe your band, your studio, IR's, guitars, home business, etc.
I wonder if we can support each other and like each others pages more, as (at least around here) number of likes is a factor in getting gigs, regardless if we like it or not.

I did an experiment once and you can buy likes.. not sure whats going on in the background but i bought 250 for like 20 bux, just to see if it worked, and it worked. So i put little faith in that number, but bar owners seem to put a lot of stock in it.

Facebook is pretty good at detecting fake accounts, this can work against you for some things, like how you appear organically I'm feeds.
I looked at it too, but decided against it for now.

Aren't they going to also remove the likes numbers? As mentioned, it's all fake but bit promoters fall for it, go for it!
