Extra pedals with AX8 Question

Have the AX8 and love it. Thinking about trying out my old compressor in front of it and maybe adding one of my old drive pedals with it. Has anyone else done this and how did it sound out of front of the house or in ear mixes?
 
Technically it will work. As to how it will sound, there are so many variables, including which compressor and drive pedal, that I doubt anyone here could give a useful answer. The only way you can tell is to try it.
 
I am toying around with using my wampler ego compressor and paisley drive and possibly steel string clean drive and use the ax8 still to.
 
It didn't sound bad through my EV at home. Wondering about in ears and bigger mains. Biggest thing will be volume being equal on it all I think.
