Effects loop question

quick query about the effects loop block.

I'm hooking the effect loop of my xl+ to another device. Should I consider the in/out levels of the axe effects loop as instrument level or line level? Had a look in the manual and couldn't see an obvious answer.

It depends where you place it in the signal path.

If it's before "amplification" it will be Instrument level(ish). After an Amp block for example it will be line level.
