Duncan Powerstage / Shooting IR's

Hello, Is the Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170 neutral enough to shoot Ir's with or is something else recommended?

Which powerstage are you looking at? I believe there’s the 170, 200, and 700.

some things you should know-
170 - 1 in 1 out. has the smallest footprint

200 - 1 in 2 out. no stereo input. Has headphone out and aux in. More EQ controls than 200. Cab sim on balanced out (meh).

700 - 2 in 2 out

I have done comparisons so here’s my 2c:

Overall I like the feeling of the matrix amps better, especially the gt800fx.

I do like the extra EQ controls on the powerstages. They can be great for “on the fly” adjustments.

For a travel rig with an FM3 I’d use a powerstage200 to avoid racking anything.

for a rack mounted rig I’d do matrix all day.

just my opinion though. Id second the recommendation to get both and see!
