Drop tune and Octave in the same time

Hey guys. So we have couple songs in lower tuning, and I was using the digitech drop pedal. But I would like to drop the pedal from the setup.
I know I can make the ax8 do it, but we have a couple songs that I’m using harmonizer, octave up, which are in that lower tuning.
Is there any way I can use both, the drop tuning and the harmonizer on the same preset?

That depends. Mimicing a drop tuning requires that the pitch block be at the beginning of your signal chain, at least before distortion or amp.

Harmonizing is typically placed post distortion/amp.

The AX-8 only has one pitch block so that makes having pre and post distortion pitch shifting impossible but since you're talking about an octave so it might sound OK. You'll need to try it to be sure.

I think you can do this with one pitch block but since I don't have the AX-8 in front of me, I'm not 100$% positive. Use one pitch block in mono or pan the both voices dead center. Use the fixed harmony block and set one voice to your lowered tuning and the other to +12 minus the pitch value for your drop tuning (e.g. tune down a whole step is -2 on the pitch so an octave up from that would be +10). The trick is going to be in the mix.

Again, I can't test this right now so I can't be sure if this will work.

There are other blocks that could possibly be used for your one octave up effect? This would allow you to put it between the amp and cab. I'm not in front of my ax8 at the moment, but I believe the Plex shift model in the multi delay block has the ability to do pitch-shifting? Just use one voice, set the delay time to the minimum setting, and mix as needed.

I didn’t realize that. Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it tonight.

I'm an AX8 newby with almost the exact situation. Love my Drop, but would also love the minimize the rig as much as possible. How did it work out for you?
