Drive after Preamp Distortion? (Axe in FX loop of Tube amp)

My Bogner Atma has three channels. When I'm on the lead channel, which has quite a bit of gain, I'm wondering if it would be crazy to add a bit more gain after the Bogner preamp. I know that normally you would have the drive first, but I was thinking that maybe it wouldn't matter.

I've read that a lot of people use multiple drive stages to achieve their distortion, which got me thinking that it might not be a big deal to run a drive block after my already high gain lead channel.

Note that I'm running the axe in the fx loop of the amp, which means I can't put the drive before the preamp. I'm trying to avoid the 4cm for simplicity reasons.

Anyone do this, or have any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks

I usually use it that way with my Wizard MC II or Friedman BE 100 using the drive of the 3 pot tube driver pedal model:it works fine!
