AFIII Dream Theater - in the presence of ennemies part 1

In the main theme, I find it easier instead of playing of all this on the D string: ... 14-10-0-12-0-7..., hit the high E on the G string instead. I'll mute the D string with the tip of my 1st finger right as I hit that note, and it sounds hardly any different than if it was all played on the D string (even though the Master doesn't do this himself!) I just couldn't get my pinky to land that 14th fret consistently, so I said, wtf. More than one place on a guitar to play that note!
That song is multiple years-worth of lessons on guitar technique! There's SO much to it. Great post! I've been working on it for a year, and still don't have it nearly as good as you do.

When do we get Part 2? I have so much trouble just remembering all the different parts! And that solo...! My legato technique sucks so bad that I'd probably need to practice exercises for a year, just to be able to attempt it. I'm sorry, but John Petrucci is THE best guitarist in my book.
