DIY Expression Pedal

I saw recent on one of the Fractal Audio Facebook groups from a guy who'd built his own expression pedal from an old wah pedal. I asked how he did that but didn't get a response and would like to do that with a couple old wah pedals I'm not using anymore. Is that how-to pretty universal? Will that work for use with the AX8?

That is how I did my old Crybaby. I use the auto engage feature so I added a spring for it to return to the '0' state and automatically turn off.

What do you mean by the auto-engage and how did you add the spring?

You can set up a modifier in which the wah will engage from the movement of the wah pot. Look at page 64 of the AX8 manual for detailed info. I bought a spring at Lowe's and placed it between the pedal and base.

Oh, right. Duh. I thought you were talking about something on the pedal itself.

you could also wire the switch to another trs jack and basicly have a mission sp-1.

I thought the impedance of the potentiometer in a wah was too much for use as an expression pedal. I believe a 10-25k ohm is best...
