Distorted tone help

I have had the exact same problem (for longer than just FW26) and have been trying to dial it out for a while with different things. I'll have to mess around with the gate some more too.

Yeah I have had the issue in previous FW to but for some reason it seemed more prominent after the latest FW. Like I said in an earlier post I couldn't really think why FW 26 would be causing the issue. What things have you tried mate? I have changed my YA ir to natural phase, I read a post from Justin York who said the highs should be a bit more mello. Also using a PEQ after the cab block to cut out annoying frequencies, I always thought it was best to record leaving everything in and cutting later but I watched a video by Mathew Dale and he said he uses a PEQ for tone shaping to record. I would be interested in what other people do. Not using my YA FDMN ir's too harsh and I have spent hours trolling through so many ir's
