I think that the pitch shifter should have a selectable detection range, one for bass and one for guitar. It is my understanding that the algorithm is always constrained to a 4-5 octave range, so this is the best workaround I could come up with. A pitch shifter that's able to detect notes as low as B0 (or even lower) would certainly make the Axe FX III more appealing to yours truly (I currently use the Axe FX II XL). I get that lower notes are slower and more difficult to detect, but I'm confident in Mr. Chase and his black magic.
