Delays

Looking for some guidance here. I have 1 delay set up on my FM3 FC6 for 1/8 Dot. I want to add another delay as well. I have my FC 6 set up for the top 3 buttons to be effects(delay, chorus, drive). On the footswitch I have set for delay, I want to be able to have the HOLD function, turn on my 2nd delay(turning off delay 1 and engaging delay 2). Basically, switching from Delay 1 to Delay 2, so i can keep my top 3 buttons as effects only. The bottom 3 buttons, are for Clean Dirt1 and Dirt 2. This way, I can turn effects on and off and use them with any of the 3 amp sounds(Clean, Dirt 1 and Dirt 2). If any of that makes sense.

When I assign the HOLD function of that particular button for my 2nd delay, I don't know how to assign it...if that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated...

Whether you're using the FM3 itself or FM3 Edit, there is a 'Hold' page (on the FM3) or section (FM3 Edit) to configure the hold function. Page 78 in the FM3 manual covers this for the unit. FM3 Edit has the Hold function assignment in the same section as the Tap function when selecting 'FC Edit'.

It sounds like your issue is one of controlling two effects with one stomp (turning D2 on and turning D1 off).

You can achieve that by assigning the bypass parameter for both delays to control switches set up as ‘exclusive’.

In this behaviour, only one can be on at once so if you turn D1 on with press and then D2 with Hold, then D1 will turn off.

Since you’ll likely want to go back to all bypassed, you may be better off with scenes.

Do you really need 2 Delay blocks?

Switch functions can't really control 2 effects at the same time aside from a Control Switch.

However you could use 2 channels in the same Delay block and toggle between them.

Or you could setup a Scene to handle the changes.

Depends on what you're trying to do, but yes it could affect the trails.

Could be something like changes to Mix or Feedback, which shouldn't...
Yes, if you change parameters. If you change channels, the trails immediately cut off.

Basically, I have a preset set up with 3 scenes. More or less my go to sound for playing live. 1 clean, 1 dirt and 1 lead. However, I have my effects set up to be used like stomp boxes. They can be used on any of my 3 scenes. Sometimes chorus and delay on clean or just chorus, vice versa. The reason for a 2nd delay, is different songs with a different delay pattern. The 2 delays would never be ran at the same time. I thought maybe by setting up 2 delays on the same footswitch, would make it easier to navigate while playing. But also being able to have both off since I don’t always use a delay.

I know, kind of a weird set up haha. I do have an empty footswitch on my FM3 that I don’t use. Basically I use the footswitches on the FC6 for controlling sounds. The FM3 has a tuner enabled on one of the footswitches. That’s it.

Do you really need 2 Delay blocks
For some people, using 2 Delays is the only way to achieve specific tones and soundscapes. To them, the answer is a resounding yes. I use 2 delay blocks quite a bit and actually have both on in some instances. In other scenarios, switching Channels in one block causes unwanted artifacts that are eliminated by using the second Delay block.

Yes, exactly... Which is why I asked :)

It's easier to change channels with a footswitch, but without knowing all the requirements you don't know what's the best recommendation.
