Custom Guitar Cabinet Ideas

Hey there everyone, I'm in the process of a custom build at the moment, and I was really trying to brainstorm on some super unique ideas to make my build stand out, but still be very functional as any other cab would be. The only things I can land on are really a custom grill cloth, or some unique design to the front wood frame. I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to share their unique cabs, and/or share some of their ideas that they've thought of. Cheers to all.

If I have enough skill to make custom guitar cabinet, I would do several things:

1. It would be nice if cabinet have different type loudspeakers like one Celestion Vintage 30 and second one Celestion G12H, both 12"
or if 4 x loudspeakers then those two twice amount.
2. Itself cabinet would be wood material
3. Under of course rolls to easy move
4. Perhaps tweeter as well
5. Connection of course 1. Mono 2. Stereo
6. Back side that way that Its easy to modify just moving cover 1. Closed back 2. Half closed back and 3. Open back
7. And of course different Ohm like 4, 8, 16 also

But I'm just man no this kind skills so I made list what came to my mind.

I’m toying with the idea of making an integrated rack/speaker cab. Basically a vertical 2x12 stereo combo with wheels and some drawers for storage.

I wanted to use Milwaukee pack out system because I’m also a carpenter but haven’t thought of a good way to integrate it.

Oh and I want it to fit under the touneau cover of my truck

I would add the ability to tilt the cabinet backwards. (If it’s not a 4x12)

You’re kind of restricted as far as shapes go. Slant back baffle would be good. There are some cool grill cloths out there. Natural wood, veneered or solid. I love wood but a nicely trimmed tolex cab looks great. Or mix wood and tolex like you see on some amps.

Guessing that this is a Guitar cab like the title says and not an FR cab?

For a guitar cab I might add a beam blockers or the J doughnut, I would definitely go with a 212, better dispersion options either laying on its side or vertically, no comb filtering that is inherent with a 412. Two different types of speakers for sure, I'm partial to V30 / Greenback combo but the type of music you play will effect that choice.

Looks wise that's always up to the individual! I have seen some really nice cabs that others don't like, aesthetics are always a personal deal. A mix of wood and tolex is always a cool look when done right!

Which brings to the question Materials! 14 ply voidless Baltic birch a spendy wood for sure which yields a pretty stiff knock or Poplar the warm standard for years or something else? construction type dovetail joint corners, pinned and glued nothing less!

If it's an FR cab just go buy a well known cab and decorate it to your liking. ;)

Here's some pics I saved just because they looked cool, that might inspire. I have no knowledge about the products themselves.

Here is a cab I built based on a port city. I wanted a custom color and show off the wood, and there is also not enough purple gear out there.
Before spending money on exotic woods, remember if it doesn't sound good, it's just a fancy piece of furniture. I used home depot Baltic birch plywood. No external screws, all box joints and glue.

I am happy to answer any questions you have.

I advise watching this video as well, about how little importance the choice of wood really is to the overall sound. It's a pretty fascinating video.
