....as giving as fractal is with free upgrades, editors and such, why is there a $30.00 charge for the MFC editor, and is it worth the price?

MFC editor is licensed and wasn't created by Fractal. That's why you pay for it, not to mention the hard work someone put in to creating the software. Think of it as a donation;)
Also, Fractal wouldn't offer it if it wasn't worth it. I myself do not use any MFC editor as my simple needs do not require at this time.
