Curious about macros

I'm a noob and waiting for my MCF 101 to arrive in the mail. I'm curious to know if it will be possible to set up macro operations? In other words can I set it up the MCF and/or the Axe Fx II so that I can be playing a part that requires clean guitar with phaser and with one switch can I go to a distorted sound with no phaser?

Maybe macros is the wrong idea, but hopefully you get the point of what I'm trying to achieve.

CC's? Okay, I think maybe I asked the question a little in advance of my knowledge. Thanks for the answer though, it's good to know that I will be able to do this. I'll keep in mind your reply as I go through the manual.
