CPU question

clarky

Axe-Master
At what CPU level does the Axe-II stop running normally and some system / app kicks in to start making prioritisation decisions?

As far as I can tell, there's no prioritisation. When you load it up beyond what's it's capable of it will simply start sounding weird, presets take a long time to load, pedals lagging and so on. Staying below 90% I never see any problems either. If there was prioritisation, something would have happened, like switching the cab to to the lowres version to keep the system functioning well, but nothing like that happens. That's how we can tell that there's no prioritisation in the Axe Fx.

thanks for the link... I knew I'd seen this somewhere but couldn't quite recall the exact 90% value

quoting Cliff - Audio processing is the highest priority.
Once you exceed 90% that remaining CPU is divided up between the display, expression pedals, MIDI, etc., etc. Something has to give.

so...
89% is the magic max CPU number then..
and according to UTILITY -> STATUS my new preset is 88.4 to 88.9
I may try to rationalise it somehow to knock it back a % or two to be safe
