Controlling a GC GCX switcher with AXE FX III

HI all, I am trying to prepare for the new FC-12 controller. I am currently switching channels of my amp head with a GCX switcher currently controlled by my Ground control pro. Once I replace the GC pro with the FC-12.
I will have to send a CC 86- 87 message via midi to the GCX unit from the AXE FX III.
I've been looking through the manual. I'm not new to this, but it's still a bit confusing.
Can anyone help with this?
 
Since I use scenes for everything, I would approach this by using the midi block to send cc messages to the gcx on scene changes.
 
Either use the Midi block or a Control Switch.

Are you changing amp channels independent of other changes or only when you change presets (or scenes).

The former case would call for Control Switches, the latter would use the Midi block.
