I don't know how much of this is going to make sense or what a NEWB I am but here's my situation. I have a pretty darn high quality Teac DAC that just sounds 10 times better than the one built into the Axe FX 3. Up until now I have an ifi Audio purifier coming out of a USB port on my PC and goes into the Teac, then I plug my Teac Balanced Mono Outs into my Monoprice Monolith Headphone amp - Then all my music sounds god tier without any eq needed. Absolute zero noise floor and huge soundstage. Everything coming out of my monitors sounds more realistic and those are what i've been using to play my Axe FX 3 through.. they are the new Kali ini 8 v2's.. pretty good monitors. I also have an Audient ID44 audio preamp interface which is upper tier that I'm not even sure I need anymore - or maybe plugging the Ax Fx into that would yield better results than just recording with the Axe. I do something else weird. I run my guitar through a NEVE DI box first, then run another through cable into the Axe FX. This seems to add some girth or staging to the sounds the Ax is capable of but increases the input level so I have to push a noise gate blocks harder. I'm just going to attach a picture of the backs of all of these units. All I want to know is which ones are compatible with the other in a beneficial way.. what order do I create the entire chain, and what cables do I use, SPIDF, AES? etc. Ultimately I'd like to hear the playback of the Ax run through the Teac Dac and bypass its internal DAC.. and use my regular headphone amp to drive the monitors and headphones.. and what do I do with the Audient ID44, sell it? lol That has a DAC also which is only slightly better than the Ax's - If you're confused right now, that's good.. I'm not alone
