Connecting AXE-FX ultra to the ENGL SE

I would like to use the AXE-FX ultra as a second Preamp with the ENGL SE.
What is the best way to cable the ENGL SE . Using serial FX or 4 cable method?

I tried using the serial connecion but the tone changed somewhat.
 
I got confirmation from ENGL that I can use Ultra AXE-FX in the serial loop and with the TD (tube driver) or preamp defeat to use the preamp section of the AXE-FX and by pass the ENGL preamp . This way I can use the power amp section of the head with the AXE-FX.

Guitar ---> ENGL SE ----> (serial loop OUT ENGL) --> imput ( AXE FX ) --> (AXE-FX Output 1 ) ---> (serial loop IN ENGL )

When I go thru the ENGL , I turn off the amp & cab on GLOBAL on the AXE-FX

I get great tone of the AXE-FX ultra through my basic computer speakers than through the ENGL SE set up above . I am missing some configuration ?
It sounds muddy with a lot of echo. Does anyone have a similar set up with the ENGL SE . Please advise.

I'd really like to use the AXE-FX ultra with the power amp and cab of the ENGL SE.

Might depend on what effects you use and how they are connected. Could you please try to explain that?
