Cheap interface for ax8 but still great sounding.

Hi all

I've seen people asking about interfaces and s/pdif and what not so I wanted to share what I'm using with very good results.

I use audient id4. It has no s/pdif but still sounds remarkably good through the line input.
And it is dirt cheap so to speak.

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6...new they are around $300. I've used it for years and recorded an entire album with it.

Yeah I've read almost nothing but good about focusrite. But I think it was X-mann who was having som tone issues with his 2i2 said it colored his tone from the line inputs so I got scared
What ever works is a good thing

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6...new they are around $300. I've used it for years and recorded an entire album with it.

I just got the new 2nd gen 18i8 - It is a great unit. So far, I am very happy with my sounds and the flexibility.

If there were any problems with the first gen I'm sure it's all rectified in the second gen.

Well that's because you've got a big one
it's the smaller more affordable 2i2 that I read about. But only one post out of quite alot of research.

Audient makes some great products, I find them very straightforward. The bassist from my old band got one and even he can operate it ! If you're going to want to record in Stereo though, the iD14 (ok, it's $300 so not dirt cheap) has 2 inputs. For value for money I would look on Craigslist for a used Focusrite Scarlett.
