Charvel The Original Gang

I think Michael Anthony is a very underrated bassist.

He's not a flashy "chops" player but he played a great supportive foundational role in Van Halen. And he can hold a groove... Check out Push Comes to Shove.

I remember when Wolfgang was first announced as his replacement in VH. There was an interview with Eddie where he said the was the first time Alex had Bass in his monitors in 20 years.

I felt like the was such a shitty, cheap-shot comment...
I agree. I know he had an alcohol problem, and that causes bad behavior, mean words.... but I don't want to diminish him either. I have heard a young Randy Rhoads asked Eddie how some aspects of his sound were achieved and he wouldn't tell him, he played with his back to the audience for some time, and he taunted Hagar with his tattoo of the VH logo saying that Sammy would never be as big as his band.

All of that is hearsay.

I also saw him visit Jason Becker and play and he was very cool and caring. Like all of us humans, we have our good moments, and our regrettable ones.

Anthony can hold a groove. Spot on.
