Can I use a humbuster cable as a mono relay control cable?

Its a long story, but I have a snake with an extra humbuster cable that I'd like to use to control a pedal I have sitting on top of my amp. I only need a mono cable for the relay to do what I need.

I know the humbuster has the ring wire soldered to ground. Will it cause any problems if I plug the stereo end into the relay 2 at the FX-8, and the pedal I am controlling gets the mono end into its relay control plug. The pedal is a Suhr riot, which has a mono jack that allows remote switching.
