Cables to link Axe FX II to Scarlett 2i4

Hi!

I've read some threads but no one seems to agree or give a very precise answer to this simple question:
Which cables should I use to link my Axe FX II to my Scarlett 2i4 device?
Also: do I really need to have 2? If so, why?

1/4" instrument or XLR cables. Like the manual describes. Use 2 if you want stereo. Use 1 if you don't.
