Buying used guitars. Multiple previous owners depreciate price. Thoughts?

that's the kind of scenario i was thinking about when i posted this thread. Looking at a guitar that by all accounts looks great but seemed to be many owners in a relatively short period of time. So red flags were going up but the possibility that it was just as lot of you have said...just people changing tastes/minds/flipping gear etc...
Yeah, short period of time definitely changes the equation. A thirty year old guitar with five owners raises no flags. A two year old guitar with five owners absolutely does.

Especially if you can't play it and check it out in person.

No way of knowing # prior owners. Listed price and condition is all there is to go on most of the time. Know typical prices, your max and go from there.
 
I wonder how many greasy sets of fingers have been all over a guitar before it leaves the shop let alone how may 'owners' it's had?

For me, 90% of the decision is made before I even plug it in.
