That's a pretty hard line - are you saying all the people who might need servicing other than full replacement now have to pay for it, because Apple is temporarily out of a phone?If they're going to take our money for Applecare, they need to be able to provide the service Applecare says it provides. If they can't do that for 2-3 year old phones, don't sell Applecare for them.
Pretty simple.
I'm assuming it's temporary - did you explicitly ask if they were no longer going to be making replacements on that phone? Because if this is a temporary condition, I think you're being unreasonable.
