I am going to have to travel with my XL, and unfortunately there will be no way to hand carry it. I have to fit it into a roller bag type duffle bag. I can either put the rack bag in there and pad it around with extra clothes and stuff for padding, or use the inner box with foam padding that it shipped in. Right now I am leaning towards the box, even though it would leave me less room. My thought process is that if it takes a hit there would be less shock, because it has less mass and foam padding. If it's in the rack, I would think that a shock would be more likely to travel through the faceplate and into the unit itself. I just wanted to see what experiences others have had with traveling, what has worked or what has caused issues etc. before I decide which route to go.
