Best solid state rack power amp ?

An old V800 up against the king of tube power amps. The epic VHT 2150. Same everything else and nothing to colour it.

Dont think ive heard of the brand or model (did we get the brand) til this thread tbh!

On paper they look to be really nice but they weigh 30.4 lbs.

I'm less concerned with weight than I am about it sounding good and not having fan noise to be honest.

This is one of the few suggestions I have yet to try and TBH it looks on paper to be the most interesting, but I went with the Fryette because I know it works and has what I need albeit tube.

If I was using a tube preamp like you Andy, I would probably want to use that Fryette too, but I like the power amp modeling in the Axe.
I like the sound of class D amps at practice volumes, but when I crank up, you can hear something weird going on in the high end. My MosValve 962 doesn't do that but it's got scratchy pots and fan noise. The Avantone could be the answer for me.

This is super interesting simply because you are never going to get a chance to put these together yourself. The V800 is pretty good even with this comparison. But I am happy with LXII.

I bought mine brand new... I've had it for 4 years! I play it all the time at the house. One of these days
I'm going to play it live with a 4x12!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this amp. If I didn't have my Fractal boxes and a QC,
I'd be gigging this every time! I've also got an Egnater Tourmaster head that I'm rather fond of with two Egnater
2x12 cabs!

I've only retubed mine once. It hurt... LoL! Since I don't gig it, the tubes last a long long time. Although I play it VERY loud at the house!

Nothing to do with the subject but an interesting amp. Holdsworth used a H&k as a power amp but he didn’t like preamp sections preferring to plug in to the FX return.
