Best add-ons for your FM9?

I picked up a cable for my EV1 and a used Voodoo power supply today. Plus I adhered foam padding in my SKB case. I should have it all together my tonight, ready for a test fire.

Not necessarily an add on per se, but I’m still waiting for someone to create some cool sort of water/liquid proof cover for the fm9. So in case a drunk person spills some beer on your unit, you’re safe.

Maybe a few wraps of that industrial clear stretch wrap that they apply to stuff stacked on pallets? That'd keep the liquids off the top from soaking thru. just keep the ventilation holes on the sides open. If firemen show up with hoses, all bets are off.

I don't think this could get any more perfect. I'll make a trip to the foam store and BLAM!!! This will be perfect! The wheels take up a bit of room inside the box. With some firmer foam on the sides this will work well. And it's waterproof for thise rainy Michigan practice nights.
I'd recommend taking the FM9 and the case with you because you really should use some different density foams. The people at the foam store can probably help you pick out the right thickness and density foams.

My $0.02: I used to package all sorts of stuff for the military, aerospace, and even NASA, from tiny things to 30' long crates that took 15 minutes to load into a semi-trailer with a big forklift. Technically, from what I was taught, your case is too small because you should have at least 1" space in every direction… but optimally it should be at least 2", but this can be made to work if you use different densities of foam. I'd recommend that you put as much padding as you can down by the wheels, especially in that gap between the wheels so that there's something to buffer vibrations when you're pulling the system by the handle of the case; you do NOT want the board or FM9 to bounce off the end or sides of the case, especially if it's dropped. On the sides, use 1"+ standard density foam, the dark gray stuff, and at the handle end I'd use something that's not quite as soft, maybe the blue foam that's higher density, because you're less likely to bang the case on the end you're holding or pulling.

Putting more padding at the wheels and sides and less at the handle is cheating the system and playing the odds, but sometimes that's what you gotta do.

Gotta be able to plug the cables on the back though. That’s the tricky part I think

I think you're right, Greg. I wish this had more room for padding. I only have .5" of dense foam around the sides and 1.5" on the top. It's tight enough that I had to cut out a section of eggcrate foam; it was impinging on the top of the FM9. But I added another piece of .5" thick dense foam where I removed the 1.5" eggcrate and still had to cut out a relief circle for the biggest twisty knob...I wish it were 2" bigger all the way around. I won't have roadies throwing this around anytime soon. So it'll keep the rain off.

The 4 cable method is possible with the FM9, should be the same process as with the FM3. Unless you're using the amp for any of your crunch or higher gain tones, it's really not necessary though.

I have had little success getting tones I like running Fractal amp models in the loop of an amp. If I have to use an amp, I much prefer to go into the front of an amp with a fat clean tone. Studio monitors or an FRFR speaker is usually the preferred method for playing the FM9. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get great sounding monitors, Behringer B2030a or Kali 6.5 or 8 inch monitors are relatively inexpensive.

I personally used the Behringers for over 10 years and really found nothing wrong with the sounds they provided with Fractal gear. For an FRFR, the Headrush series seem to be well liked among those who use modelers but I have no experience with them.
The 4CM is better with the fm9 vs the fm3. I didn't like 4CM with the fm3, but it is flawless with the fm9.

This will fit under my Temple Board! I only need AC power for the fractal and my Shure wireless tuner. What do you guys think?

Whew!!! This 3-plug outlet works perfect for me! I just need outlets for the FM9, the Eventide Cioks Powermini pedal power supply, and my Shure wireless tuner. It fits perfectly along the back rail of my Duo-34. I only seem to have one problem. I can't seem to get the Temple lightstrip to work. That was a fun thing to try, but maybe I've plugged it into the Cioks power supply wrong. I pulled the plastic out of the remote (which isolated the battery) and the infrared light comes on whenever I use the remote to turn on the lights? Anyone try this?

Definitely my Seahorse 920 case, and CEBA guards. The black barefoot buttons v1 minis finish the look. She’s ready to travel in style.

WOW DaveO!!! That looks great! My only problem is the light strip. It won't turn on. The remote is working; the IR lights up when the buttons on the remote are pushed. I might have to send it back.

OOPS!!!! Operator error with my light. Too many new products I guess. I mixed up my cords for the CIOKS and the Temple LED strip. I hooked up the correct cord and BLAM!!! The light works!!! lol

Peterson StroboStomp HD Tuner & AC Mains Circuit Box. Also, 2 normally closed momentary external switches from LoveMySwitches.com in pedal jacks 2 & 3 that serve as FM9 tuner access, and a HOME (Layout 7 / Perform ) button that brings me back to my 1st user preset in my list.

Gear by CEBA protection. Mooer Shroom toppers.

The StroboStomp is designed to access sweetened tunings for several programmable presets: James Taylor's sweetened offset tunings, Drop-D, DADGAD, etc. The FM9 offsets are already modified slightly to allow for more natural sweetened electric guitar tuning; the StroboStomp picks up for acoustic and additional electric presets where the FM9 is limited to one set of offsets.
