Before I pull the trigger...

Yes you can use the FM3 with the Kali Monitors with 2 XLR cables and they will work great together.
Glad you like the Beyer Dt770 headphones, they are good headphones at a great price.
i'm looking at this mint FM3 on Reverb right now that I can pay for each month, i'm REALLY temped, but not sure if I should considering it's not sold from Fractal Audio, i'm always a bit weary about this, but the price, reviews, and return policy looks right, tell me what you think if I should buy it, I'm ok with the FM3, just not sure if I should get this one.

This will get you started.

EQChart.jpg

While the guitar in standard pitch won't normally output below 80Hz, dropped tunings and baritone guitars can be below that point. Also, a double-stop 4th on the E and A strings creates a sub-harmonic when we're running a distorted sound that seems like it's about 40Hz. It can shake a room.
yeah I got no plans yet on any crazy low tuning of my guitar, if I take up bass guitar i'd assume a subwoofer might be needed?

I wouldn't do that!

This is technically used, and at the cost of a new FM3. If you want to pay it off monthly, get a signature loan direct from your bank and see if they will give you a low rate. I don't pay for gear on loans. I have used signature loans to fix things around the house that I can pay off in a few short months but don't have the cash up front. You have to think of this doesn't work out and you are paying a loan with interest and you need to sell... How that works out. You may owe more than it is worth to sell it.

I know you are set on the fractal world, but when it is your first, I suggest you keep it cash the first time out, just in case.

I had a Kemper and it really wasn't for me. I did use it for 8 years and toured with my own profiles, but they didn't do it for me. If I had not been able to make it work and I financed it, and sold it right away.... I would have been screwed.

I say wait until it is right for you and your finances, and you can buy from fractal and have full support if something goes wrong. You can even get an extended warranty up to 1 year after you buy it.

ok yeah you are problay right, I'll wait till I have the cash outright, this should be in a few months, maybe sooner, in the mean time i'm setting up my guitar to how I like it

I think 20 feet is a crazy length. Go as short as you can get away with. Six to 10 feet is probably sufficient, unless you are putting the AX3 in another room or something crazy.

Something like this will be just fine, no need to waste money:

also, what 3.5 mm TRS to Dual XLR Male Pro Stereo Breakout Cable would you recommend so I can hook up the monitors to my PC? Or would that not be the best way to go about that? I bought theses ones Amazon product ASIN B0824WV22B, but I think they are garbage since I am hearing what I think is 50hz to 60hz hum cycle or some sort of other buzzing humming with the monitors plugged into the same power strip as my PC, not sure if it's a ground loop issue or a bad cable, I'd think it's not the Monoprice cables you mentioned, or the monitors, so it's either my PC's motherboard's integrated sound, or that Breakout Cable, or both, either way I need some more advice

I would not use trs to XLR. Just grab a couple of good TRS cables. Why a stereo splitter?

Are you trying to use the onboard audio to connect up to the monitors? I would avoid that if at all possible. You won't get proper signal from that to the monitors. Those onboard sound cards are consumer devices (kind of like a boom box /cheap bluetooth speaker, if you will) that being the case they really aren't meant to connect to pro audio gear. It won't hurt anything, just not sound the best since it won't provide +4db signal to the monitors and you will have a high noise floor. The hum you hear is partly from that and the TRS to XLR usually blunts one of hot for a ground. This can cause more noise and hum, if the device is not wired to accept that type of connection.

I was trying to hook them up to my PC's "line in" 1/8 jack, and yes, I only have onboard audio if I understand what that is, I suppose these monitors will have to be saved for just the FM3 once I get one, i was aware that the sound quality would not be the best, but I didn't know there would be hum in my monitors, that stereo splitter must be total garbage lol

It is not that one in perticular. It is the combo of using the onboard audio in your computer and it not being meant to connect to pro gear. Most stereo and computer equipment is considered consumer gear and there are different voltages, line values, resistance, and connectors. You could get an inexpensive usb A/D+D/A that can do what you want, for now. It won't be a top of the line or even great, but a work around that you could use to play games or something, on your monitors, when you want.

Something like this should work. Again it is not anything great, but will get you started and you can even connect your guitar to it and use Ableton or similar with some free guitar amp plug-ins until you get your FM3.

Or this:

This would just be a workaround and you can continue to use it if it works for some things (games, watch TV, etc. With your monitors) or sell it later.

ok! Thanks for the info, I may also want to get a power strip for the monitors and PC so I can further deduce hum noise? or would the usb A/D+D/A boxes be good enough for now?

If you don't have good power where you are at, a power strip is just a start, but not what you will stick with. A true power conditioner for pro gear is a must.

I have 6 of the Furman power conditioners and have been using the furmans for 30+ years without any issues. I have never lost a piece of gear due to a lightning storm and power spike with these. I have good power and don't have 60hz hum. You should see if you can get a strip that has some conditioning in it, with the USB interface.

This is better than nothing and what you start with:

the power in my old house is rather spotty, lights often dim out of nowhere, or if other things are running, and sometimes just flat out make the circuit breakers trip, so yeah I may need a new power strip and those conditioners

Don't use them together!! Start with that Furman strip and upgrade to 2 of those Furman racks later. One for your computer gear and the other for your audio gear on separate racks.

Since you have inconsistent power a battery backup/UPS for your computer and audio gear is probably a good idea. It isn't a run out and do it, but more like when you get around to it kinda thing.

This will get you more than enough time to shut things off if you drop a circuit.

oh yeah I know that, I didn't mean use both of them together, sorry I miss-worded that

So i'm going to buy the Axe FX III next month, but I got two important questions, what would be the benefits of the Turbo vs the stock Axe FX III in practice, i.e. does 25% more clock speed really going to to help in most sisuations for a newbie like me?
And would wireless headphones like these be good enough till I get some proper active speakers like the Xitone active wedge?

any helpful feedback would be useful!
Most newbies overlook the need for a foot controller and the added expense. If that’s you, and you don’t have a rack full of other gear to control via midi, you might want to consider the Fractal floor versions.

Do you own the house? If you do and you plan to be there a while, getting the power straightened out -- for real, not with protection devices for when it goes sideways -- may be a worthwhile investment. You've got a lot of money one the line in your devices, not to mention the hassle of brownouts etc.

no, I only rent the house, or rather a room in said house, but yes, I do plan on getting some devices for power management

The OP decided on the FM3 and is collecting a few things while he gets everything together.

Also, I got studio monitors, a Mission Engineering EP-1, and a good kick ass guitar to boot, all I need now is a good foot controller for patches, but holy cow my "fun" funds are really depleted now, this will have to come later lol
