axe into tube amp vs axe with headphones

Hi everyone,

I'm often switching from using my Ultra with either my tube amp (Silverface twin Reverb) or my set of headphones.
I noticed some difference in the amount of gain in the drive blocks. I hear more gain when using headphones out, and less gain when plugged to my amp.
I should add that when using my amp I switch off cabinet simulation on the axe global.

Is there a way to get a signal that sounds more or less the same in both situations?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I doubt you'll find a reply that gives you a positive answer. Many times over the years people have concluded that it's just not easy to get a great headphone sound with the Axe-FX. You could try using a tube powered headphone amp to get a better tube driven pre-amp sound, but the real issue is the difference in air movement. Pushed air makes a difference in tonal perception that simply can't be replicated with headphones.
